Part II: More sharing

Share a link to an item and set a permission level

  • Select the folder or file you want to share, and press The Application key.

  • The Context menu opens, and you hear “Context menu, Open”.

  • Press M, or press the Up arrow or Down arrow key until you hear “More OneDrive sharing options”, and then press Enter. OneDrive on the web opens with the focus in the Share window, and you hear “Share” and the name of your file.

  • Press the Tab key until you hear “Email link”, and press Enter.

  • When you hear “Enter a name or email address”, type a name or email address. Press the Tab key to move to the Choose a permission level box. The default setting in the Choose a permission level box is can edit. To select the can view option, press the Down arrow key.

  • Press the Tab key to move to the Include a message box, and, if you want to, type a message.

  • Press the Tab key to move to the Share button, and then press Enter.

Manage permissions

  • Select the folder or file you want to share, and press The Application key.

  • The Context menu opens, and you hear “Context menu, Open”.

  • Press M, or press the Up or Down arrow key until you hear “More OneDrive sharing options”, and then press Enter. OneDrive on the web opens with the focus in the Share window, and you hear “Share” and the name of your file.

  • Press the Tab key until you hear “Manage permissions”, and press Enter. The Share pane appears with the focus on the Add people link, and you hear “Add people link”. The Share pane also lists the people you have shared the file with, the link that you can share with others who should be able to edit the file, more information, and comments (if available).

  • To share with more people, press Enter. The Add people window opens, and you hear “Enter a name or email address edit”. Type a name or email address. If there is more than one match, you hear “Suggestions are available”. To select the correct address, use the Up or Down arrow keys and press Enter.

  • To move to the Choose a permission level box, press the Tab key.

  • The default setting in the Choose a permission level box is Can edit. To select the can view option, press the Down arrow key until you hear “Can view”.

  • To include a personal message to the sharing invitation, press the Tab key. When you hear “Include a personal message to this invitation, Optional”, type a message.

  • Press the Tab key to move to the Share button, and then press Enter. An email message with the link is sent to the person.

Share an item by using the OneDrive ribbon

  • In the OneDrive app showing your file list, select the item you want to share.

  • Press Alt+S, W. When you hear “Specific people”, press Enter. (To select the Specific people option, you may need to press the Down arrow key.) The File Sharing dialog box opens with the focus on the edit combo box, and you hear “File sharing, type a name and then click Add”.

  • Select the people you want to share the file with:

  • To share with specific people, type a name or, to move to the list of contacts, press the Tab key and then, to select a contact from the list, use the Down arrow key.

  • To share with everyone, press Alt+Down arrow, press the Down arrow key until you hear “Everyone”, and then press Enter.

  • To find people, press Alt+Down arrow, press the Down arrow key until you hear “Find people”, and then press Enter. The Select Users or Groups dialog box opens, where you can specify where to look.

  • Press the Tab key to move to the Add button, and then press Enter. The name is added to the list.

  • To move to the list of names to set permissions, press the Tab key and, to move to the name, use the Down arrow key.

  • The default permission level is Read.

  • Press the Tab key to move to the Share button, and then press Enter.

Stop sharing an item

  • Select the item you want to stop sharing.

  • Press Alt+S, S+S, and then Enter.
