As part of the project “Empowerment Through Employment for Visually Impaired Higher Education Graduates,” supported by The Nippon Foundation, Sao Mai for the Blind (SMCB) organized two training programs to kick off its 2026 series of soft skills and job training activities.
Independent Living Skills Training & Study Visit – March 4–5, 2026
On March 4 and 5, SMCB conducted a two-day independent living skills training for 12 visually impaired participants in Vung Tau City. The program aimed to build participants’ confidence, independence, and readiness to enter the labor market through the following key activities:
-
Career orientation and job readiness: Participants received both individual and group counseling. Topics included overcoming self-doubt, developing a positive mindset, handling workplace conflicts, building professional relationships, and communicating effectively at work.
-
Using technology for independent living: Participants practiced using updated apps and assistive tools to improve mobility, communication, and daily living skills.
-
Cooking practice: With guidance from trainers, participants learned how to prepare meals safely, confidently, and independently.
Beyond the formal sessions, participants also shared experiences and built peer connections. The program combined learning, interaction, and hands-on practice, which encouraged strong engagement. The skills gained serve as important first steps in helping participants better prepare for entering the workforce.

Company Visit & Professional Practice Workshop – March 26, 2026
On March 26, SMCB organized a specialized workshop at Song Nhac Studio for 9 visually impaired individuals working in music production. The workshop aimed to strengthen their technical skills and support their professional development. Key topics included:
-
Designing an inclusive and accessible studio environment
-
Introduction to professional music production equipment
-
Setting up a soundproof recording space to reduce noise
-
Hands-on practice with licensed music production software
The workshop was led by Mr. Tuan, the owner of Song Nhac Studio and a former trainee of SMCB first audio processing course in 2012. His professional journey is a strong example of the long-term impact of SMCB’s training programs and provided practical, relevant insights for participants.
