Let's read Ms. Uyen's personal story below!

I was born in a farmer family in Khanh Hoa province, and I am very fortunate to have grown up in the love of my family. However, my childhood was not as smooth as that of other children, as life brought me difficulties and challenges. At the age of 14, I learned that I had an incurable eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which would gradually decrease my vision over time, according to the doctor. During that time, I didn't worry much about my illness; I focused only on studying at school. Despite my diminishing vision, I continued to study well and live happily.
At the end of grade 12, with my backpack filled with enthusiasm and dreams, I went to Ho Chi Minh City to pursue my education. However, harsh life circumstances unintentionally took away the remaining light from the eyes of the young girl. Being an optimistic person with strong belief in life, I did not allow myself to stop trying. With the help from the Sisters of the Holy Cross in Thu Duc and fellow visually impaired friends at Nhat Hong Center, I easily overcame the difficulties when starting a new life without light. I prepared the necessary tools in terms of knowledge and skills to embark on a new journey, a journey to overcome darkness and conquer the light of knowledge.
I returned once again to the university. The years of university education and experiences taught me a lot, both from opportunities and challenges I encountered. Above all, these experiences made me stronger, more confident, and more in love with life. Currently, I have graduated with a degree in English Language and I am ready to contribute my abilities and knowledge to the development of the visually impaired community and my country.
